Because Bugs are a real DRAAAGGG …

NASA is looking everywhere for ways to improve aviation fuel efficiency. Two of its most promising projects — a bug-repellant coating and a new technology for smaller vertical tails — are now ready to be tested.

When it comes to commercial aviation, even the smallest improvements in fuel efficiency mean millions of dollars saved and fewer harmful emissions in our atmosphere.

That’s how we reduce the …. DRAAAGGG…

Scientists estimate that using bug-repellant coating on aircrafts can help increase fuel efficiency by upto 6% (on every single trip).

Now that’s something BIG, isn’t it? Let’s hope that the test results come out to be positive (for the sake of humankind and our sustainability).

GOOgle or CO2-gle

One Google search produces about 0.2 g of CO2.

But since you hardly get an answer from one search, a typical search session produces about the same amount of CO2 as does boiling a tea kettle.

Google handles about 1 billion search queries per day, which amounts to some 200 tons of CO2 per day.

Algorithm meets Entertainment

Bing and Microsoft Research teamed up to create a constantly updated Oscar predictions list, which eventually came out pretty accurate.

Microsoft sees this as a chance to prove it’s ability to analyse and manipulate data.

Of the top 24 categories at this year’s Oscars, Microsoft’s Bing correctly predicted 20 winners for an 83 percent accuracy score, including all of the most prestigious Academy Award picks.

“I’m Sorry,” Says The Man Who Invented Pop-Up Ads

Pop-Up ads can be really irritating.
Concentrate on doing a task, be it reading, surfing, or playing games, and out of no where….. An ad pops up – disrupting both our concentration as well as the continuity of the task.

Pop Up Ads

The man who invented pop up ads didn’t realize that his ‘new and innovative’ idea to showcase ads and messages would one day annoy millions of people across the globe, at any given instant.

Well, I’m not sure whether his ‘invention’ is so ‘annoying’ that he actually needs to apologize to us folks….. but the person did actually say SORRY !!

A Habitat Placed in a Pit – That’s What NASA Thinks

NASA thinks the moon’s underground caves could house astronauts!

Along with craters covering a huge land mass of our moon, it also has a few….err….pretty deep holes.

The moon’s more than 200 holes, or “lunar pits,” were discovered by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.

Scientists and Researchers are at present trying to check the feasibility of such an act. The habitat, placed in a pit (or hole) of sorts would provide a safe location, as many scientists claim.

However, a lunar probe will have to verify it before any substantive proceedings can be made in this direction.
